Introduction
Let's Fight Back
Do you want to pay less money in taxes? Do you want to keep more of the money you work so hard to earn? Of course you do! With gas and food prices at an all-time high, everyone needs more money just to survive. Most people I know—and probably many people you know—are sick and tired of being taxed to death by the IRS. Well, let’s face it—you and I have two things in common: (1) we are all going to die—hopefully at a ripe old age—and (2) we all have to pay taxes to the IRS.
Everyone wants to pay less money to the IRS, but most people just don’t know how. That’s where I come in. I am Roni Deutch—aka the Tax Lady. I have two decades of experience fighting the IRS, and I have saved thousands of people—just like you—millions and millions of dollars.
That’s right, I’m a tax attorney. I know tax laws, and I know how to save you money.
Has anyone ever told you that they owe back taxes to the IRS? Have you ever heard anyone say that they have been audited? Come on! It would be like wearing a Red Sox jersey to a Yankees game—it takes real guts to do it. Why are so many people afraid to talk about taxes, afraid of the big, bad wolf? Well, I’m not afraid. I’m not afraid to talk taxes, and you shouldn’t be either. After all, you have tax rights too! Rather than living in fear of the bogeyman, you need to wake up and learn how to take advantage of all the laws that are out there—laws which allow you to save money on your taxes.
Listen: Congress and the IRS intentionally make taxes complicated and confusing. That’s their job. They want you to live in fear of them so you will gladly pay whatever amount of money they tell you to pay. Did you know the average person overpays the IRS by $438 per year? Overpaying the IRS stinks, especially when you have kids to feed, rent to pay, and electric bills that increase monthly. The IRS is in business to collect as much of your money as they possibly can. But guess what? It is time for you to do something about it.
Here’s the good news: you really can save money on your taxes. Say it with me—“I really can pay less money to the IRS!” Wow, doesn’t that sound good? Doesn’t that feel good? Well, it does to me because I know it. I believe it. And I have faith that you will know it and believe it too, as you begin to navigate your way through taxes with this book as your guide.
So, the choice is yours. You can do nothing and continue to pay the IRS way too much money. Or you can follow the advice in this book and keep more of your hard-earned money. So, what will it be?
